Emily's Weigh in
Well I admit I indulged on Pizza last night, maybe not a good idea right before weigh in. I still lost 1 pound for a .77% loss and a total of 3%. You can add 5 miles to the post as well. This week no pizza on Friday night...I don't like how I feel and I really don't think new baby likes it either....we had a long night :)
Lisa's Week

Lisa's Smoothie
I'm new to green smoothies, but I've been trying to create something that I can drink and like!
*Spinach or Kale (I fill up my blender about half way with the greens)
*Almond lite milk, like the coconut flavored! (1/2-1 Cup)
*Sprinkle flax seed
*Stevia packet
*Frozen mixed berries, about 1 Cup.
Blend away!
It's better to blend the greens and milk or water at the beginning to get it smooth, otherwise it's chunky and that is beyond gross to try to drink!

Shakes
Katie also asked me to share my favorite protein shakes with you (see my post below). Recently I started Shakeology. This is also a Beachbody product. I will be 100% honest, I was skeptical of trying this for so long because of the price. But, Beachbody has an awesome money back guarantee. You can get your money back if you're not satisfied, even if you've finished the bag. So, I gave it a shot. It is worth it in my opinion. It is packed with nutrition. It makes a huge shake. It is used as a meal replacement instead of a "snack." That's where the value comes into play. When I dont feel like cooking, I have a shake. It's plenty filling. I'll post a link at the bottom if you want to read more about it.
Anyway, here are some of the shakes I like doing. Keep in mind that these can be done with any shake. I used to use Elite Whey Protein Powder (chocolate fudge), also a great protein shake. I use almond milk with all my shakes. Almond milk is only 30 calories per cup, so it is excellent for watching calories. I use 2 cups of almond milk with my shakeology (another reason it's so filling - it almost fills a 32 oz cup when I make it). I used 1/2 cup with Elite.
Cherry chocolate shake:
chocolate protein powder
1/2 cup of frozen cherries (from Sam's Club - huge bag)
2 cups almond milk
8 ice cubes
Chocolate Peanut Butter & Banana shake:
chocolate protein powder
1 banana
2-3 tsp natural peanut butter (I get the natural PB from Smith's - It's from a machine that grind the peanuts right there, so no additives. It's like using a soft serve ice cream machine, for peanuts) :)
2 cups almond milk
8 ice cubes
I actually had this for dinner tonight. I love not worrying about cooking something sometimes, and it kept me full. Thank goodness my husband is easy going and likes freezer meals on occasion (I don't do this often for dinner!).
Chocolate Cheesecake Shake:
chocolate protein powder
2 Tbsp of fat free/sugar free jello cheesecake powder (found at Target and Smith's, but could not find at Walmart)
Almond Milk
8 ice cubes
To me, this tastes like brownie batter. Mmmmm!
Strawberry Cheesecake Shake:
same as above, but use the Tropical Strawberry Shakeology Powder
Butterscotch Chocolate Shake:
Same as the chocolate cheesecake shake, but use butterscotch powder instead
Strawberry Banana Shake:
Tropical strawberry powder and banana, almond milk, ice - one of my favorites for breakfast (so nice not to cook eggs, etc.)
Pumpkin Chocolate Shake:
chocolate protein powder
2 Tbsp (more with shakeology) pumpkin purée (canned pumpkin)
2 cups almond milk
Ice
I have tried freezing the canned pumpkin after opening, but it didn't work out well. So if you do this, be ready to have pumpkin for a few days. Buy the smaller canned pumpkin. I like to make some pumpkin yogurt while I'm at it - 1 large yogurt (fat free vanilla), 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, nutmeg or pumpkin spice, and cinnamon. Mix in a kitchen aid or with beaters. I have one serving right after I make it, then put the rest back in the vanilla yogurt container to store it. I haven't tried this with Greek yogurt, but it would probably be great! I like adding some low fat granola to the yogurt (just a small amount sprinkled) and it is like pumpkin pie. I also like low fat granola on other yogurts.
Chocolate Peppermint Shake:
If you are into essential oils, this is actually really good. Just make the shake as usual, then add ONE drop of peppermint essential oil. Tastes excellent. You could try other essential oils if you wanted, but this is one that I have had. Chocolate orange might be great too? Worth experimenting if you have the oils!
I love trying new shake recipes. I like buying frozen fruit because it helps with the shake factor, and it stays good for a long time. Pudding powder is also fun to try out. Just be careful to read nutrition facts!
Just an FYI, I will be doing a 5 day Shakeology challenge the week of July 8th to 12th. Participants will get 5 Shakeology packets and a protein shake mixing cup. There will be a prize for the person who has the most success over the 5 days. It will be an excellent opportunity to try out Shakeology without paying so much for the whole bag. Follow my Facebook or Instagram page if you want more details on this. www.facebook.com/kickupthefitinyou or @kickupthefit. You can also email me at kickupthefit@gmail.com

Kimi Gustafson - My Weight Loss Story
Hi everyone! I just have to say that I love this weight loss challenge! It worked for me! Katie, you are amazing to get this thing going, and to organize it all! I did this challenge a little over a year ago, and Katie asked me to share my story with you. At the start of the challenge, I had almost lost all my pregnancy weight (55 lbs). It helped me lose the last 5 pounds of that weight, plus an additional 17 lbs. While doing this challenge, I hit my same roadblock of hating working out. I was desperate to find a workout that worked for me. One of my friends from high school had success with Turbo Fire, so I decided to give Turbo Jam a try. I am soooo glad I did. I finally found a workout that I look forward to doing. It has changed my life for sure. I personally do better with eating well when I'm working out, so finding something I enjoyed made a huge difference in my life. I have learned to make working out a priority. I used to be scared to workout at night because I didn't want to be wired. I am a teacher, and I have faced reality that I am a terrible morning person (can't work out during the day, except in the summer). I would love to have the motivation to wake up; however, I know that after a few weeks I will give up with my morning routine and it won't last. Reality for me. So instead I work out at 9 or 10 at night. It works. For the first couple weeks I was too wired to sleep shortly after working out, but my body adjusted. Also, I have more energy overall, so I look forward to it. I can definitely tell a difference when I don't get my workout in. I feel sluggish, and my eating is terrible. The trainer for the Turbo workouts, Chalene Johnson, always says it's all about finding your "soulmate" workout. Everyone's soulmate workout is not going to be the same. It's all about finding what you enjoy.
Since the weight loss challenge ended about a year ago, I have completed Turbo Fire a couple times. I have now started ChaLEAN Extreme (weight lifting), and I will be starting another new program soon, Focus T25 (the same trainer from Insanity). I am now to my wedding weight (another 20 lbs lower than I was when this challenge ended last July). I am a Beachbody coach. Beachbody is the company that sells workout programs like Turbo Fire, P90X, Insanity, etc. It is a great company. I submitted my before/after photos, and I won $500. So, hold onto those before pics! I actually almost deleted mine because I thought that there was no way I really looked like that. I love Turbo so much, I became a Turbo Kick instructor in April. Turbo Kick is just the live version of the videos. I teach free classes on Thursdays, and I will be teaching community classes this fall at Layton High.
I would love to help anyone that needs advice or motivation! I am still working on my fitness goals. I have realized that there isn't a "finish line." Health is something that has to become part of your lifestyle, and it honestly feels great to see progress. My favorite part is seeing people that I haven't seen in awhile. Especially because I haven't weighed what I do in 6 years.
If you would like to read more about my story, find class updates, want to see my diet, or want to contact me, here's my info:

1 TBLS Peanut Butter
About 14 Ice cubes
Blend in a good blender (I use a Ninja)
Banana Protein Smoothie
1 Cup Milk or Vanilla Silk (soy milk)
1 Frozen Banana

Blend in a good blender until smooth.
I am all about packing a protein punch for breakfast and/or after a big workout. Both of these are great for that....submitted by Sue

Aubrey bio and goals
I finally have my computer back and working so here it goes.
I did this competition last year and had great results. Then almost one year later here I am again. I went back to school full-time and my husband was gone 5 out of the 7 days of the week and I got lazy. It was winter and I stopped working out and eating whatever I wanted. Hence, why I am back. After gaining back about 15 pounds I am here to lose it again and keep it off this time! I am still really busy with two kids and going to school full-time but my goal is to keep on my work outs and not enjoy my Coke every time I do homework.
My goals this time are:
1. Run my 10k in an hour and fifteen minutes. I have never been a fast runner and want to improve my pace.
2. No more soda of any kind! I might die.
3. Lose one pants size and fit back into my favorite pair of capris!

Make healthy eating a constant companion
Be able to complete a 5K without needing oxygen at the end! lol

Sue Week #2
Sue is down 1.68% and logged 26 miles. Trudging through the Wyoming wilderness with a pioneer dress on and a hand cart attached to me for 3 days are at fault for my successful week. Apparently the answer for me is FORCED exercise and near sun stroke so you don't feel like eating. LOL
Have a great week everyone!!

Lisa remained a .94%....next week will be better!!! It's a mind thing!

FIRST CHALLENGE
FIRST PERSON TO LOSE
5LBS (in ONE week)
Get's to pick a workout
We all must ATTEMPT!
Shelayna
I lost 1.02% last week and logged 18 miles!!
My reason for joining this challenge is simple. I want to enjoy life. I've noticed that the last few years I've cared more about my job then how it has effected my personal life and body. My weight gain has been slow. I feel like I woke up and suddenly I realized that I am 70lbs from where I was in high school 8 years ago. Gaining 10 pounds each year doesn't sound like a lot but it sure adds up! I'm really looking forward to this challenge to help me get out and have more fun, feel comfortable in my own
skin, and be happy and healthy!
My goals for the next 4 months:
1-drink more water
2-exercise 3-4 times per week
3- participate in 3 official athletic events (ie:marathon, 5k, fun run, swimming, triathlon, ironman, etc..)
You can follow my personal progress/daily life/etc via Instagram

My weight gain has been slow. I feel like I woke up and suddenly I realized that I am 70lbs from where I was in high school 8 years ago. Gaining 10 pounds each year doesn't sound like a lot but it sure adds up! I'm really looking forward to this challenge to help me get out and have more fun, feel comfortable in my own
My goals for the next 4 months:
1-drink more water
2-exercise 3-4 times per week
3- participate in 3 official athletic events (ie:marathon, 5k, fun run, swimming, triathlon, ironman, etc..)
You can follow my personal progress/daily life/etc via Instagram

Here's my bio:
My weight loss history is pretty textbook. I lose, I gain, I lose, I gain. I want this to be my "ultimate lose" and change for good. My husband and I plan on serving many missions after he retires, and being healthy is paramount to being able to do that. I also plan on living to be a ripe old age, and I don't want anything to stop me from doing just that! I had our kids later in life and that translates to having grandchildren later in life, and I want to enjoy them and them enjoy me.
My goals for this challenge:
1. Drink 64 oz. of water each day (I must confess.......it's not my beverage of choice!)
2. In a high gear, ride to the top of the hill in Hyde Park without walking my bike
3. Go down 2 pant sizes
I'm interested to see who is going to be in the top 3 with me!! :)

I have always been someone who struggles with their weight but in high school I was finally able to loose most of the weight. I lost 100 pounds between my senior year of high school and my second year of college. Ever since then my weight has stayed fairly consistent, fluctuating 10 pounds or so. This last year I have gotten the heaviest I have been since I lost all my weight and I decided I needed to do something about it. I'm excited for this weight loss challenge because it makes me be accountable to someone other than me.
3 goals
1. Loose 2 pant sizes
2. Loose at least an inch on my arms (might sound weird but they are my least favorite part of my body)
3. Run a 5k in 30 minutes

My name is Sue and I am a FOODOHOLIC. I have struggled with weight all of my life. Sometimes I gain the advantage but more times than not chocolate ice cream and brownies win out over my desire to achieve and/or maintain a healthy weight. I have 4 amazing, beautiful and talented children, a wonder of wonders wonderful daughter-in-law and 2 precious grandsons. I adore them all and want to be my best self for each of them. My husband of 32 years has recently been diagnosed with diabetes and as his main chef and #1 cheerleader my incentive to create healthy habits for both of us has just become imperative. So game on all you losers. Try to keep up. Hehehehe
Goals:
1. Lose 2 dress sizes
2. Run a 5K in 27 minutes or less.

Lisa's Blurb:
I have battled with my weight up and down for my whole life!!! I've been really thin at times, and really humongous more times than not. My battle is psychological mostly....because of the multiple times I've lost this blooming 30 lbs.! I am married to my "big boy", a real hotty for nearly 32 years now, Craig, he's doing this challenge as well. I have 4 fabulous children, my beautiful daughters... Katie & Emily, both doing this challenge; my son Dane is getting married in Sept., and my youngest, Landon, is serving an LDS mission in Louisiana. I've always said I am still carrying my baby weight from Landon, but he's going to turn 20 in August, so it's time to let that go I think! :) I am the proud grandma of 5 adorable little people who rock my world, and I want to have all the energy, health, and positive energy to give them....but mostly, I want to live a healthy, prosperous, and positive life. My weight diminishes who I truly am.....and I don't want "it" to define me, or make me doubt the beauty within! I have many plans for the $ I am going to win. Watch out Losers!!! ( I am posting a picture of Craig and I this past month at our nieces wedding in Kauai.)
Kendra B. That's me!
I have always been overweight and feel like I have tried everything in the book. The times I have been able to lose weight was when I was really watching what I am eating and staying active. My work will have biggest loser competitions every once in a while and they recently started one in April. I decided to once again participate and have been really motivated this time losing 25 lbs and counting. One day I was thinking about how I was going to stay motivated after the competition ends when I read Katie's post about starting the UWLC. I am really pumped about continuing to lose the wight and get healthier!
My Goals for this UWLC:
1:Finish a 5K in 45 mins or less while running at least 50% of it. (Ha ha I'm not a runner obviously!)
2: Drop at least 3 more pants sizes.
3: Maintain an active lifestyle by participating in something that keeps me active 5 days a week.

Jeri L
I was the skinny girl in high school. I could eat anything I wanted and not gain a pound. I started putting on a little weight here and there after high school--in college, after getting married, and after having a baby. I lost thirty pounds and did pretty good at staying weight-stable for several years. In 2011, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had a total thyroidectomy and a radioactive iodine treatment. After the treatment, I was started on a new medication and subsequently put the thirty pounds back on in a year and a half. My dosage was recently reduced and the weight gain stopped.
My 3 goals for this contest are:
1. Drop one pant size
2. Drink more water, less Diet Coke
3. Exercise 6 days a week

Hi Everyone
I am so excited for this new challenge!! This will be my 3rd time Hosting this challenge and each time I get great results and am inspired but all you amazing people!
A little background: I was never super skinny but never over weight all up through High School- went to college added the freshman 10-15lbs then got married added the marriage bliss weight, a couple years later got pregnant with my first baby and slam BAM thank you ma'am I am 50-60lbs overweight!!!
About a year after my son was born we decided to start this Challenge and my husband and I both lost a ton of weight- he lost 65lbs and I lost 50lbs. He was the Ultimate Winner for the first contest! That was such a great experience for the both of us- to have a goal as a couple and commit to it and each other. LOVED it! I ran my first 10k that year which lead up to my first 1/2 marathon last year- I kept most of the weight off, but steadily gained about 20lbs back (I blame my elephant appetite on all the running I was doing...) and guess what? I got pregnant again!
So I just had my second little fella in January and my scale is showing some SCARY numbers at the moment. I KNOW I can lose the weight again- I have done it before, but this time I really want to keep it off!!!
I get really competitive and this seems to be the best way I succeed in losing weight, is having to report my success/failures each week!
For me it is all about calorie counting, laying of the late-night snacks, and lots of exercises! Luckily my hubby has stayed SUPER healthy the past two years and he will be a great support system for me when I am feeling un-motivated (get a good support system!!!! A must have!)
I am going to be purchasing the TURBO FIRE workout DVD's and plan on starting up with some small runs! I will also be calorie counting via MyFitnessPal !! I will give myself a cheat day each weekend but during the week I plan to stay strong and avoid too many treats or snacks.
My 3 GOALS for our contest are:
#1- Lose TWO pant sizes
#2- Run a 5K
#3- No Carbonation drink of ANY kind (yikes!)
