March Madness Challenge

For the Month of MARCH a new challenge is headed your way! This will help you SPRING into March and our competition. Not only do we have to each do our own part to accomplish this task- but we have to work as a TEAM.

EVERYONE has to participate, or we all fail!!!
So come on!- Everyone......

 Right on into this! Here are the rules:
As a team we must run a total of 250 miles!!! That is 15 miles/person with 10 extra for those go-getters! You can use a treadmill. elliptical, glider, and of course just your own two legs...

NOT ALLOWED: bikes, or any machine that you SIT on.
Each MILE you run we will add it to our counter here on the blog-

YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN MILES!!!

Obviously you can walk these miles- but the hope is that your last 5miles you can either pick up the pace and either jog or run @ least one!

Eric just got back from his game, but since it got over after 11- he said he won't count it to follow the rules.

I am posting my weight before Eric- he is still @ his basketball game and will probably sweat off another 10lbs or sooo...
I had a really good week- to make up for last week! I worked out 2xday and really tried to stay away from any munchy's (no nutella this week!)

I lost just under 4lbs for a wkly of 1.92% and a total of 8.19%  that's 16.4 lbs so far! Whahoo.

My friend introduced me to http://www.myfitnesspal.com/.  I signed up (it's free) and it is really great.  I logged all my weight from the start of our contest so I am up to date.  You can log everything in and it even has a free app for most smart phones.  Even better is that you can add a friend and it will post updates on the home page....kind of like facebook.  For instance my friend was under her calorie goal for the day and it said.....so and so is under her calorie goal for the day...good job!  Or it will say....so and so has not checked in for 3 days...she might need a little encouragement.  It shares your activities and you diary with your friends that you have added.  I think this will help me a ton because if I am being honest with myself and my diary than I will do better just knowing that someone might be looking at my food diary....if ya know what I mean!  LONG STORY but I would love for any of you fellow loser's to be my friend on my fitness pal.  I am listed under jenjones77@gmail.com.  Happy weigh in tomorrow!

I stayed the same.  I am having a problem lately of eating to oblivion after my Saturday weigh in and it doesn't stop until Sunday evening.  I wake up Monday 2 pounds heavier than my Saturday weight, and then I spend the rest of the week getting off that 2 pounds.

This is silly. I vow to do better this week.  Sunday, today,  I brought a banana and cheese stick to church. I ate it on the way home, so I wouldn't binge after hearing all the things at church that I am falling short in.  So far, I am staying in my WW points range... however, it is only 5 p.m.

Aloha Everyone (no I am not on a beach in Hawaii but by July 1 I wouldn't care if I was... In a swimming suit!)

I just wanted to send a quick email your way and tell everyone to PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK!!! We are 1/4 of the way thru this journey... And things will only get better! I know the past couple wks have been slow for a lot of us, but NO ONE has given up- and we are still at it! Some of us have been battling our weights for a long time, and nothing ever seems to work permanently.... WHY NOT THIS TIME????

Let's all get SERIOUS about this contest! Not just for the short 6 months its going on... But from now on! The whole point of this was to have FUN, MEET OTHER'S IN THE SAME BOAT AS US, TAG-TEAM IT, HAVE COMPETITION, GET OTHER IDEAS, GET OUT OF OUR ROUTINE, etc etc I feel like some people are really into this and are always posting or emailing ideas, comments etc, and 1/2 never even get on the BLOG or email results etc....

NO MORE EXCUSES! Get involved and let's get this team going TOGETHER! I know alot of us have serious health issues that make losing weight hard... But all the more important to do something about it NOW. I work in a Geriatric setting- Occupational Therapy- and I DO NOT want to be UN-healthy when I enter my "golden years" it takes twice as long to rehab from a simple surgery, extra people having to help move you around, shorter life, no privacy etc etc.... LET'S GET THESE HEALTHY HABITS NOW!

The reason I always NAG for results at a certain time and day is so WE HAVE TO COMMIT to that! Having weigh-in our Saturday was supposed to help urge-away the Friday-Feeding Frenzy... There is a method to this madness! Please for the 100th time try to have your wkly results in on Sat @ 11- my cell # 8017919489 if it is easier to call/text  THAT MAKES IT FAIR FOR EVERYONE!!!!

I lost 2.2 pounds this week for a 1.10 % loss.  This is a total loss since January of 5.6 pounds or 2.75%.  My weight watchers total for quite a few months is 37.2 pounds total.  Unfortunately I don't get to count this for the contest.

Finally Leslee slowed down a little!  :)

Super bowl Sunday treats followed me this week....too much indulgence.  I remained the same, which.....is ok, being that I  had jumped up 3 lbs. after GREENBAY knocked the socks off Pittsburgh!  

My total weight loss remains at 6.8%, total of 14 lbs.  I feel good about that....because it could just be that I still had those 14 lbs. shakin' around somewhere very unattractively!!!  But....I still need to shed other poundage that still shakes! :)

I do appreciate Jen, at work, being a stair climbing maniac and makes me jump up to run 3 flights of stairs  to near cardiac arrest during my 3 days at work! (She sets her timer to remind us! Do I really mean "appreciate"?)  Sue, that was me commenting on the Friday temptation....uh huh....end of the week rolls around and it's hard to change my instinctual habits to "play and pig out!"

Hello Everyone! Hope this week was great for you all....

ERIC: Was really sick this week, but was able to mostly stick to his routine. He lost .31% for a total of 6.19%  he has lost 24lbs!


KATIE: Again I did really well with working out this week...Tried a body sculpt and step class with our p90x- but the first of the week... Ate some more treats at work! I need to stop! I lost 1.05% this week for a total of 6.19%

New Discovery of delicious

Luna Bars...found them at Target.  Chocolate Peppermint to die for.   180 calories, 8 grams of protein.....gluten free. Yum!!!!  Great for those times when you  may "cave" for something much less healthy!  First protein bar I actually feel is a treat!!!

I am giving up Chips for the month of February...starting right now!

After completely pigging out today for the superbowl I have decided I am giving up chips.  That would be tortilla chips, potatoe chips, apple chips....and any kind of chips I think about!  I am also going to try super hard to work out 5 times this week and stick to my calories....I am tired of these itty bitty baby weightloss numbers.  I will also be tempting Lisa a little at work since she had such great numbers :)  Have a great week ya all!

Natalie's February Goal Met

Look at the shrinkage in my bootie!  I fit into a pair of jeans I bought too small for me in the summer. Pound goals do not work for me. When I lose it, I lose it. The important thing is that I am changing my life. I will never be "done."  I have maintained my weightloss throughout Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and being "hit by a bus."

Well, I am up .3%. I gained .6 pound.  I did meet my February goal of fitting into a pair of jeans. I wore them to work and the game on today. Heidi saw me.  I am successful...I have lost 36 pounds, but I only get to count 3.4 pounds for this contest. 

Hey, you guys may all be surprised when Heidi, Craig Carter and myself all kick your butts...or what is left of your butts.  We are purposely throwing our weigh-ins as a tactic to win.  WATCH OUT!

My February food to give up will be that Sausage and Egg McMuffin meal I order every Saturday morning after my Weight Watchers weigh in.  Hmmmmmm. Starting next Saturday, of course.

As a famous song says.....'THE ROAD IS LONG....WITH MANY A WINDING TURN....."

Big Daddy Craig....remains at 4 lbs. total weight loss.  This is after having increased a few times, he gets back to that magic number 4!  He has worked out A LOT this week, and is lifting weights and to Big Mama looks like a stud...he has hit some frustration, however, with not seeing any significant weight loss for a few weeks.  This week he will see some big numbers going DOWN!

Big Mama Lisa, happy to say I had my best week yet!  Hallelujah!  I am down 5 lbs. this week, for a weekly weight loss of 2.54% and total weight loss of 6.80%! Total of 14 lbs.!!! I have been trying to remind myself....'NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS!"  I have become vigilant about counting my calories and am using the "Lose It" application on my iTouch....that has helped me a lot with ACCOUNTABILITY!

The Carter couple will give up Potato Chips.  Now, that may not seem like a lot, but when Potato Chips are pretty much right up there with Chocolate....perhaps someday, we may be strong enough to not have chocolate for 30 days....but, baby steps right!???

So let's see Eric has a big week- his wkly % is 2.34 and his total is 10.88% he has lost 23.4 total!!!  I ask what his weapon is for these HUGE numbers- he really does stick to his calorie counting EVERYDAY- even on cheat days, and he works out alot!!!

Katie- I really tried this week, played a basketball game (almost died afterwards) worked-out like a crazy girl, BUT I did make some poor choices with treats hanging around at work... Oops, so I guess I better be better this week! I lost .42% for a total of 5.19% I am down 10.4lbs- which is awesome!

We both made our FIRST goals for Feb 1 to each be down 10lbs... Eric doubled it!
**Now he has to keep off the weight....Haha**
